We Will Never Forget!
Recently I received a call from Rich Diana and Tony Milo from the NYPD PBA. Rich and Tony are former members of the HPD and are presently the Housing Bureau's representatives on the PBA. They informed me that they had received calls from former members of the HPD who were concerned that our Heroes in the HPD who gave their lives serving the citizens of New York were being marginalized by the NYPD. Rich and Tony informed me that NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! They told me that each May, during Police Week, Housing Bureau holds a Memorial Mass honoring all former members of the HPD and NYPD Housing Bureau who have made the ultimate sacrifice. In addition, in each PSA there is a Memorial Wall with the names of all members of that command who have died in the line of duty. And each year, on the anniversary of the officer's End Of Watch, they hold a brief ceremony at the command (PSA) and place flowers in remembrance of the officer's sacrifice.
The Memorial Mass (which is usually held at a different Church each year) has already transpired for this year but they promised to notify me in the future about any date for the Mass so that we can post it on our web site. All present and former Members of the Service are welcome and invited. Also, all present and former MOS are invited to attend the brief ceremony (usually held at 1100 hours) at the Command on the anniversary of the officer's passing.
