New Procedure for HPD ID Cards

There is a new procedure for former members of the HPD to obtain their retired law enforcement ID card. The cards are still being issued by Transit Bureau but there is no longer a need to appear in person at Transit Bureau HQ in Brooklyn.

At least a month before your card is due to expire call Housing Bureau at 212-432-2680 or 212-432-2461. Inform the PAA that you’re calling to obtain a new HPD ID card. The PAA will ask you a series of questions and ask you for a contact telephone number. About a month later you will receive a call from the Transit Bureau ID card section. You will have to email them copies of your driver’s license, your current ID card, and a digital photo of yourself from the waist up in front of a neutral color background (no hats or sunglasses please). After processing, a new ID card will be mailed to you via certified mail. If you have any questions, contact Transit Bureau at 718-610-4660 or email them at TBHQPERSONNEL@NYPD.ORG.

Our thanks to Danny Barbao who recently obtained his new ID and provided us with much of the above info.
